Beauty at every age with Daise Bedolla
It was a pleasure - no, a PRIVILEGE - NO, AN HONOR - to interview journalist Daise Bedolla for So What?? for my new series, Beauty at every age.
Daise is a freelance journalist for Into the Gloss, and she just launched her own Substack called I Just Want to Talk. We met at Erika Vuernik’s vintage sale at Rothy’s and at first I was nervous to invite her for an interview because she is intimidating in a very beautiful way. Now, knowing her as a friend and colleague, she is an inspiration. I hope this interview leaves you are as enriched with joy as I was.
While we were talking, Daise stated that she does not like to cleanse in the morning. According to a dermatologist and facialist, her skin is detected to be dry. So, the dermatologist and facialist said to not wash her face in the morning in order to maintain moisture, and as an alternative she uses a face mist in the morning to retain that moisture. The mist is from a brand called S’eau Prima. In the face mist they have a star ingredient called hypocholous acid that’s amazing at nurturing and protecting your skin barrier. She also uses an eye cream from a brand called Ourself. She uses a Vitamin C serum for the morning as her moisturizer, then to finish it off she uses a sunscreen from a brand called Roundlab.
Then, for the night she uses face mist, eye cream, Vitamin C and moisturizer.
Daise says that her skin actually stayed the same over the years. Growing up with a miraculously beautiful mother, her mother never really taught Daise about beauty and skincare. So that led up to going to a dermatolgist to help with her acne. She says she is impressed by me, Matilda, that I am taking care of my skin now because Daise did not know what to do to help her skin until age 18 in college. So, when she went to the dermatologist they gave the cleanser we all know and love, Cetaphil.
Daise says she observed that the stress of college reflected on her skin and led up to acne.
For makeup, Daise’s favorite lip gloss is the Buxom in the shade Moscow Mule and conveys a dirty rose color on her lips. Daise’s favorite lipstick is La Bouche Rouge, which is a special occassion color. She also highlighted that she likes the Violette FR Bisou Balms. A blush she loves is the Violette FR Ines, which was inspired by the cheeks of the creator’s newborn baby. She also likes the Rhode blush in the shade Piggy and she loves the cat eyeliner trend.
She also highlighted that she loves Sunnies Face blush, and Makeup by Mario.
Her last piece of advice is to not be scared to try beauty! Though it can be intimidating (which it definitely can be) you just need to focus on what you like and you will have so much fun with it.
Thank you Daise for letting me interview you about your makeup and skincare routine. I hope you visit again soon!
